A student debate on the pressing issue of illegal involvement in financial pyramid schemes was recently held at Kozybayev University. The event was organised with the support of the Department of Economic Investigations for the North Kazakhstan Region.
At the university, students passionate about debating are part of the intellectual discussion club SHYŃ. For the event, members were divided into four teams (factions) and competed in the art of public speaking. The debate covered the societal harm caused by pyramid schemes, their historical roots, the legal consequences of participation, and how individuals can protect themselves from falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
«We regularly organise outreach events for young people. The Department of Economic Investigations in the North Kazakhstan Region is actively working to detect and prevent financial pyramid activity. As a result, more than 1,100 illegal links have been blocked — including 115 involving pyramid schemes, 414 related to online gambling platforms, and 625 advertising electronic casinos,» said Viktoriya Alpeeva, Head of the Department.
Following a spirited debate, the faction Eki Mavrodi took first place. All participants and winners received special certificates and prizes in recognition of their performance.
