From students to students: how University development plans are changing the campus

The Chairman of the Board, Rector Yerbol Isakayev, shared the development plans of Kozybayev University with the student body. The meeting, where everyone was able to express their suggestions for improving the work of the university, was held in the open space format. The informal conversation was attended by representatives of student organizations, creative and debating groups, scientific communities, and student government.

"A new time is coming for the implementation of the principles of higher education. The first thing that is at the forefront today is the quality of educational services, the development of branches of foreign universities, educational work and, of course, scientific research. Kozybayev University is the only university in the region, and this leaves its mark of responsibility towards the region. We have started a collaboration project with the University of Arizona to give school graduates an additional opportunity to receive high-quality higher education. And today you can get the world's top grant education. Also, one of the goals was to transform the university into a research university," the rector said.

At the event, the students expressed ideas for holding a republican debate tournament at the university, creating university merchandise, organizing creative events, career guidance meetings, etc. All these proposals will be considered. The students were also concerned about the issues of determining locations for meetings of student organizations, interaction with internal services, and scoring points by activists participating in university events. As the rector noted, the university has commissioned a new ULC, there are unused classrooms and rooms that will be equipped for these purposes.

In general, the alma mater pays great attention to creating comfortable spaces for students. This year, the renovation of the assembly halls in buildings No. 1 and No. 5 will begin, a new media studio with podcast areas will be installed, and the lobby of Building 6 will be renovated in a modern style. A recreation area "Zheti Kazyna" will open on the campus near ULK, and a park area will be located between buildings 4 and 5 instead of a concrete fence. The Chairman of the Board, the Rector, also instructed to work out the introduction of a social GPA for student activists.

Regarding the issue of living in dormitories, it was noted that the settlement in the new dormitory on Teatralnaya St. has already begun. Soon, the new 1,200-seat Student House will be transferred to the university's balance sheet. Thus, all students will be covered by modern comfortable living conditions. Studactiv was also interested in the possibility of participating in scientific competitions and projects, and opening new laboratories. The university also provides funding for these purposes.

As Rector Yerbol Isakayev noted, any idea of students can be implemented through joint efforts. To do this, you need to work out the concept and present it to the management. The University is ready to change and become even more flexible to the needs of students, to develop and create all conditions for successful study, scientific activity and leisure of students!
