Kozybayev University held a celebratory event marking the 70th anniversary of Zylyykha Bimakanova, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and Law, Candidate of Historical Sciences, and veteran employee of M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University.
Zylyykha Shakhmetovna began her professional career in 1977 as a methodologist at the District Department of Public Education in the Oktyabrsky District of Turgai Region. She worked as a schoolteacher and taught at the Arkalyk Pedagogical Institute. She has devoted more than 50 years of her life to education. For 28 of those years, Zylyykha Bimakanova has been associated with our university, sharing her knowledge with students, conducting research, and supervising academic dissertations.
“Today, we have gathered to extend our warmest wishes and express our sincere gratitude to our esteemed educator. Having followed a challenging and inspiring path from schoolteacher to Candidate of Historical Sciences and professor at M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, Zylyykha Shakhmetovna has become a respected scholar. Since 1998, you have worked at our university, setting a worthy example for the younger generation. We sincerely congratulate you on this wonderful occasion!” said Aigul Nurpeissova, Member of the Management Board for Academic Affairs. She presented Zylyykha Shakhmetovna with a congratulatory address on behalf of the university leadership and the “Academician Manash Kozybayev” medal.
Throughout her long teaching career, Zylyykha Shakhmetovna has received numerous awards, including a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the “Ғылым үздігі” (Excellence in Science) Honorary Diploma from the Ministry, and certificates of appreciation from the Akim of North Kazakhstan Region, among others.
The main focus of Z. Bimakanova’s professional work is the study of historical materials published in periodicals and the history of Kazakhstan. She has authored more than 180 scientific articles, 10 textbooks, 28 teaching and methodological guides, and two monographs.
“The historical research school at Kozybayev University is one of the most respected and well-known in the country. Scholars such as V. S. Chernikov, M. I. Benyukh, V. F. Zaibert, A. V. Nikiforov, and many other veteran academics who continue to work alongside us have made a tremendous contribution to its development. Zylyykha Shakhmetovna is rightfully a representative of this research school, a successor to its traditions, and a scholar who has made her own contribution to the development of historical science in Northern Kazakhstan.
Her research during the period of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s independence is of particular importance. Zylyykha Shakhmetovna was among the first scholars to study periodicals published in the pre-revolutionary period. Her dissertation focused on an important stage in the history of Kazakh journalism and the press. Her research into revolutionary newspapers and pamphlets made a significant contribution to the study of social and political thought, the history of the national press, and the processes that shaped Kazakh society during that historical era. She was among the first to raise this topic and conduct an in-depth study of it,” noted Zaure Kartova, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor, Leading Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of the Ulus of Jochi (Astana).
The celebration was filled with warm wishes and heartfelt congratulations. Zylyykha Bimakanova’s former students, colleagues, friends, and associates shared their memories of her.
Congratulatory addresses were sent by research organizations and government institutions in Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Kostanay, Arkalyk, and Petropavl.
We congratulate Zylyykha Shakhmetovna on her 70th anniversary! We wish her continued success, a long and fulfilling life, and warmth and happiness in her family life!
