Zhas Galym 2027: Applications Open for Research Grant Funding
The Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced a research grant competition for young scientists under the Zhas Galym 2027 project.
The competition aims to support talented young researchers, strengthen scientific capacity, and promote the development of highly qualified research professionals.
Key competition details:

Project duration: 36 months.

Total funding: KZT 3 billion.

Maximum funding per project: KZT 30 million (up to KZT 10 million per year).
The competition covers five priority research areas:

Climate resilience, water security, natural resources, and sustainable agricultural development.

Technological sovereignty and industrial competitiveness.

Health, human development, and quality of life.

National security, defense, and resilience of critical infrastructure.

Fundamental research, scientific foundations, and research capacity.
Eligible applicants are citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan aged 44 or younger at the time of application who hold a PhD or another qualifying academic degree, or have completed a full doctoral program. Applicants must also meet the publication and other eligibility requirements specified in the competition documentation.
Application period: October 12 – November 10, 2026 (inclusive).
Applications must be submitted electronically through the information system of the National Center of State Scientific and Technical Expertise: https://is.ncste.kz.
